CASE CONCLUSION

VERDICT

Operation Olympic Games was the most technically sophisticated covert operation in history. Five intelligence agencies, two presidents, $1.5 billion, and years of preparation culminated in a 500-kilobyte file that crossed the boundary between digital and physical — spinning centrifuges past their destruction threshold while their operators watched green dashboards.

The mission partially succeeded. Approximately 1,000 centrifuges were destroyed. The program was delayed. Iranian engineers blamed themselves. But Iran rebuilt, upgraded to faster IR-2 through IR-8 machines, and eventually enriched to . The bombs fell in June 2025 anyway.

"When you launch a cyber weapon, you don't just send the weapon to your enemies — you send the intellectual property that created it and the ability to launch the weapon back against you." — Kim Zetter

Stuxnet taught the world how to do this. Iran learned. So did Russia, China, and North Korea. The stone was thrown from a glass house — and the glass house is still standing, barely.
